Requirements

To start using mironline we recommend having the following:

Software

To access mironline it is necessary to have the last version of one of the following browsers:

Chrome
Firefox
Edge

Internet and connectivity

It is recommended to have a broadband connection to have the best experience using mironline.

Activation code

To activate your mironline account for the first time (and for future levels after your registration), you need to have our activation code. You can find this code at the back of your mironline access card which is at the back cover of your Teacher’s Guide.

Make sure that your card is covered. If it is not covered or your Teacher’s Guide does not include the card, please check the related help at the end of this sub-section.

Location of the Teacher section


There are two ways to access to the teacher section of mironline:

1. By directly writing the URL address https://platform.makeitreal.la/teacher

2. By login in athttps://platform.makeitreal.laand click on the option For teachers.

Sign up

To register an account as a new teacher using mironline, you must follow the next steps:

Go to on your browser or tohttps://platform.makeitreal.la/teacherand click on Register.

Activation code

To start signing in, mironline will ask for your activation code corresponding to the level you want to sign in. Enter the code exactly as it comes in the mironline card and click on Check. If your activation code is correct, click on Next step .

Registration

Now you will have to decide whether to sign in through a Gmail account or through a personalized e-mail address (e.g. your institutional account or outlook services).

Registration using Gmail:

1. Click on Sign in with Google (it could say Signed in with Google if you already have a Gmail account open) and follow the instructions on the screen so mironline is authorized to associate your account.

2. If the process was correct, click on Next step .

Note: if you sign in through Gmail, the system will identify it is active in your browser or in the e-mail you have open. It is recommended to close any active session of Gmail before signing in to mironline.

Registration using a personalized e-mail address

1. Click on Sign up with email.

2. Fill out the registration form

3. Then click on Check.

If the process was correct, click on Next step .

Select a title

At this point, the system will ask you to choose form a list the title with which you want others to identify you. Your students will see this title when they see your group. Select the title you prefer, click on Check and then on Next step .

Create your first group

Now you must create your first group. If you will be using mironline with more than one group do not worry, you could sign all of them in when you complete your registration. To register your first group at mironline:

a. Click on Generate group and then on Check.

b. In the upper green slider of feedback you will see if the group was created correctly and will give you the group code, keep it and copy it as you will have to share it with your students so they can join the group.
c. Click on Next step to continue.

Name your first group

The system will ask you to name the new group you just created. Write it in the indicated space as requested, then click on Check. Then click on Next step .

Nota: This is the name your students will see. Make sure it is a name they can easily identify, associated with your institution, level, grade or real group.

Sessions

To continue with step 6 of the registration assistant, choose the minimum and maximum number of sessions you want your students to attend each week at mironline. This information will be useful to generate the statistics that mironline will give you regarding the performance of your group.

After choosing your interval, click on Check and then on Next step .

Period

Finally, the assistant will ask you to choose the date of beginning and end of the period that your group will use mironline. To choose the period:

1. Choose the date of beginning in the calendar as start day click on the date you want. Use the arrows on the sides of the name of the month showed in the calendar to move from one month to the other.

2. Then choose the date of the end of the period in the calendar as end date by clicking on the day you want. Use the arrows on the sides of the name of the month showed in the calendar to move from one month to the other.

3. Click on Check and finally on Next step .

By clicking on Next step a small window will appear with a green button that says Start!, click on the button and you will be completing the registration process. Wait a few seconds and the system will lead you to the section Today.

Login

To log in to mironline as a teacher, follow the next steps:

1. Go to

2. There are two ways to log in to mironline depending on your previous registration:

a. Through your Gmail account: click on the blue button Sign in with Google (or Signed in with Google if you already have a Gmail account open) and wait for the system to lead you to the section Today.

b. Through a personalized e-mail address: Write the e-mail address you used in your registration in Your e-mail and then write the password you chose for your account. Finally, click on Log in to start and wait for the system to lead you to the section Today

Today

The section Today is your mironline’s homepage. In this section you can find the following elements:

Profile aHere you can find your name and your type of user.

Logout bClick on this button to logout your session.

My groups cIn this section you can see the groups you have created as well as each group’s statistics or you can add new groups by clicking on Add a new group.

Teacher development dHere you can watch an informative video about the Make It Real! English for Higher Education in Latin America books, by Paul Davies.

Groups

As a teacher, you will be able to add new groups on mironline or see your groups’ statistics.

Create a new group

There are two ways to create one or more groups depending on whether you have or not a mironline account previously registered.

With a mironline account:


1. Log in with your account at

2. Then go to My groupsin its section Today.

3. Click on Add a new group to start the registration of your new group.

Note: remember that to register a new group you must have your activation code for the corresponding level.

Without a mironline account:


Go to the section Register to mironline of this manual and follow the steps described here in.

Join a group

You will be able to join a group to look at its general statistics or students in particular. To join a group follow the next steps:

Log in with your account at

Then go to My groupsin its section Today.

Click on the group you want to check.

See the details of a group.

The details of a group include the following data, statistics and configurations:

Registered students 1number of students registered in your group in the current period.

Search a student 2a feature to search students by e-mail or name.

Signed up students 3list of students that have been registered to your group with details such as their avatars, names, e-mail addresses and dates of their last login.

Group activity 4list of students that have been registered to your group with details such as their avatars, names, e-mail addresses and dates of their last login.

Resources 5section where you can find the teacher’s audios in mp3 format, their teacher’s guide in PDF format and where you can see activities available for students for the corresponding level (see Available material on mironline for more information ).

Group settings 6section where you can see the configuration of your group. Among other things, you will be able to change your group’s name, see your group’s code, change the number of sessions per week and empty or eliminate your group.

Important: the options empty or eliminate a group are irreversible.

Students

To see the statistics and progress of your students you must do the following:

1. Log in with your account at

2. Then go to My groups in its section Today.

3. Click on the group you want to consult.

4. Go to the section Registered students.

5. Click on the student you want to know the details and locate the student by entering his/her name or e-mail address in the search bar.

Once you have entered the details of a student, you will see the following sections:

Student cover profile: it shows the general details of a student like name, registration date, activated levels and total of sessions.

Barra de navegación: here you will find the sections Activity, EGP progress and ESP progress.

Activity

This is the first subsection you will see when you enter the details of a students and it basically consists of a graph where you can see the activity of your student during the period you previously assigned for your group.

EGP progress

In this subsection you will find the statistics and scores your student obtained in the section General English of mironline and includes the following elements:

1. Student’s pass rating chart

It is a graph that shows the performance of your student by comparing the scores obtained in grammar, vocabulary and skills work.

2. Results by skills/subskills

It is a summary of all right and wrong answers as well as an average score of each student by sub-skill.

The color of the labels changes from green to orange to red, depending on the pass rating obtained by the student for each sub-skill, this way you can have a quick look to the strengths and weaknesses of your students and take the actions you consider necessary.

3. Results by units

This section shows the student’s results by unit regarding the active level of the group. You can see the units as the student moves forward with the activities of each unit.

To see the details of each activity done by your students in a specific unit, click on the title of the unit and you will see:

  1. Name of the activity performed.
  2. Skill and sub-skill developed during the activity.
  3. Number of right answers.
  4. Number of wrong answers.
  5. Attempts.
  6. a. Date of last activity.

ESP progress

In this subsection you can find the statistics and scores obtained by your students in the section Professional English of mironline and includes the following elements:

Student’s pass rating charts

It is a graph that shows the students’ performance comparing their scores in the field (or fields) they have chosen during their registration.

Results by skills/subskills

It is a summary of all the right and wrong answers, as well as the average score of each students, by sub-skill.

The color of the labels changes from green to orange to red, depending on the pass rating obtained by the student for each sub-skill, this way you can have a quick look to the strengths and weaknesses of your students and take the actions you consider necessary.

Results by areas

This section shows the students’ results by field regarding the levels they have registered in until now. You will be able to see the fields as the students move forward as of the first activity of each module of a certain field.

To see the details of the modules the student has worked on in a specific field, click on the title of the area and you will see:

  1. Name of the module.
  2. Level of the module.
  3. Progress of the student in this module.

Finally, if you want to see the activities developed by your students in a specific module, click on the title of the module and you will see:

  1. Skill or sub-skill developed during the activity.
  2. Number of right answers.
  3. Number of wrong answers.
  4. Attempts.
  5. Date of the last activity.

Available material on mironline

The platform mironline is integrated by two big sections of activities for the students: General English and Professional English. You can see the available material in these sections for your students depending on the level of your group previously registered.

To see the available material on mironline for a group, you must do the following:

1. Log in with your account at

2. Then go to My groups in its section Today.

3. Click on the group you want to see.

4. Go to Resources.

5. Click on Material available on mironline .

Location

You will have access to the materials of both General English as well as Professional English. Click on the option you choose with the browser slider underneath the identification card of the corresponding level.

EGP Material

In this section you can see and perform the activities of the 4 units of General English. Each unit of General English includes 10 activities. Click on Show activities in the unit you want to see to open the list of activities.

To see or perform a specific activity, click on the name of the activity. (see General English in the students’ user manual for more information).

ESP Material

In this section you can see and perform the activities of the 4 modules of Professional English for the level of your group. Each module of Professional English includes 4 activities and 1 reading comprehension (some modules might not include a reading per se). Click on Show modules to open the menu of a specific module. (see Professional English in the students’ user manual for more information).
